OK, I give up. this is about the third time I have had reason to think you've been snooping in my gun collection.

I have 2 Weaver weaknesses, K-4s and K-2.5s I need a couple more 2.5s for special projects. I am not a snob though, I also have Lyman Alaskans and All Americans

I was going to talk to you about your home security.

Any of the Weavers are desireable for me. I have a few, so many that I don't even have rifles to put them on. The four power rimfires have a special draw for me but I also have a few V7's and just bought a K12. I even collect the vintage rings.

But I also like the Lymans. I have an All Weather Alaskan that I put on an 03A3 with the correct mount and turned up bolt. In effect its now an 03A4.

Hello 303Lithgow
I hope all is well. I am getting ready to post a vintage Weaver V9 Wide View 3X9 scope on Ebay. It comes with the orginal high mount scope rings and base. These are the rings that allow you to easily remove the scope for travel or storage. It also has the Parallax Adjustment at 50, 100, 200 & 1000 yard increments.
I had it mounted on my .444 Marlin but now that I am hunting in closer quarters, I'm going back to my iron sights. If you are interested in it, let me know and I'll email some pictures and a good description. Anyhow, I'll delay putting it on Ebay for a couple of days just in case.

I already have more scopes than rifles so I'll have to pass.

I've had some of the old Weavers, but with me, they tend to come and go when I hit the gun shows. I agree, though, there is something about them. Maybe it's nostalgia, growing up as I did when those El Paso Weavers were almost standard issue on so many guns in that era. They sure bring back memories.

I must have about twenty of them. Most of mine are from the 60's and 70's but I have a few from the 50's. The glue they used was pitch from a tree and they are slowly turning cloudy. About half of mine have been rebuilt and reglued.

I also like the J.C. Higgins scopes which were made by Weaver.

Yeah, some of them I found were pretty cloudy, but some were pristine. We often find them at estate auctions around here and pick them up for almost nothing.

You can get them reglued but its not cheap. The fixed power scopes are better than the variable because Weaver used plastic inside them even in the 50's.
