I can make out 3 of them. If things get bad, you and ncgal will be set. Just turn Duke loose and maybe he'll drag one up on the porch for ya. Does he ever see them?

Duke is the one who let know these deer were out front . It is tuff to get a pic with a dog barking at them and get a pic of them to hold still .

Probably headed into town to do some bar hopping. Looking for one of those places that have the restrooms labeled Buck's and Doe's.

Pretty common sight in the town I serve in. Frankly, I wish they'd allow bow hunting in town; I get tired of dealing with all those deer / car collisions.

The population density of deer is actually higher to much higher in urban and suburban areas than in rural areas, all across the country. Have seen them right in the yard in every big big city where I've lived and that includes Chicago. Deer are a huge in some of these areas. I knew a biologist that worked for the county in Chicago who told me that the ideal population density for their Forest Preserves was ten deer per square mile, but they had over a hundred deer per square mile in some areas. These guys had to go out at night with night vision scopes on their rifles to thin the herd, so as not to upset the deer lovers, but those county forests have been almost destroyed as far as species diversity of plant life, thanks to the deer. When riding my mountain bike on the trails, I actually had to be very careful not to have a collision with a deer. Just plain crazy.

Up here in our neighborhood, well, "our" deer are basically pets. We see them every day. As for our dogs, the deer know very well they can't get out of the fence. They even come up to the fence and tease the dogs.

Awwww. We almost hit a brand spanking new fawn & Mama last weekend. We were slowing down for them & the car behind us was getting ready to pass, so my husband tapped the brakes & put his arm out the window to alert the passers. Thank goodness they realized something was up and stopped. They ended up stopping next to us to take pics of the baby.

NO.... I live in high desert and we don't get any rain and I think the green yards of the city attract them to feed on . I know they like to eat my peaches off my tree .
