Shapeing up to be another busy fall! Today was leftover tags sale day, was able to pull a cow elk, muzzleloader doe deer, and a late season doe antelope tag, to go with my bull, buck antelope and buck deer tags. Been helping a local outfitter trim trails and pack in his spike camps. Will help him pack his hunters in and out when I'm not hunting myself throughout the fall. First up will be the annual dove shoot in the panhandle of nebraska sept 1st. Couple pics of the high country the outfitter hunts in. Its steep rocky country and its hard on horses. Put 40+ miles on above 10k ft over this last 3 day wknd. He's got a good string of horses and mules and solid equipment necessary to do what he's been doing for 28yrs. It'll be a good learning experience for me and has been fun so far! Hope you enjoy the ride this fall!

One elk herd of 100 or so, cows and calves. Sure the bulls were down in the timber during the heat of the day.

We were 102° today, till a little 5 minute shower came by. It didn't even get the ground wet, but dropped the temp to 89°. I sure like altitude in the Summer for campin, fishin, havin a few beers and coolin down, but it sure gets hard to do anything like workin or playin hard. | |

Was a good opening morning in the sandhills of Nebraska! 5 man limit in about 2 hours. Packed a group of 4 archery elk hunters into the backcountry yesterday. They got a tough week of weather ahead of them with hot and dry forcasted till next wknd.

Spent a 3 day weekend packing in a group of bowhunters and another group out. Then caught Dave Stamey again in a small venue with maybe a hundred other folks. https://youtu.be/TESC4n_hVQo Last edited by Dennis H; 09-09-2019 at 07:31 AM. |

Hopefully these won't be sideways? Packed a group of muzzleladers and a bowhunter in, and picked up this bull moose on the way out. 20hr day but its somethin I enjoy!

Its been a busy month! Packin for the outfitter, bendin nails, and tryin to squeeze in my own hunts. Wasnt able to go on my muzzleloader deer hunt but I managed to sneak out for a day and fill my antelope tag before leaving for our annual elk hunt and managed to kill a small bull. Packed out the last group of hunters and the spike camp a couple days ago in 13 degree weather and a foot of snow. Still have 2 tags to fill before gearing up for waterfowl, plenty of memories yet to be made.

The never summer range a month ago, it's a little whiter today. You can really see how devastating the pine beetle has been up there, those grey trees should be green. Pic of bear proof boxes of supply's hung in the trees.
