Anybody have much experience with th' "99"? Traded for a late model 99-C in .308...it's got the tang safety which sure is nice for us southpaws. Haven't shot it yet, tho', and probably won't for a few weeks or so... It's the detachable clip model, and I'm told that replacement clips are darned elusive. |

I have a 99 in 250 Savage that was built in 1954. It is a great lever action and with handloads will shoot to 3/4" and an 87 gr bullet.

i get to make a cabela's probably once a year..........they always seem to have some 99's to look at. the 99 is an excellent alternative to the browning BLR.......and usually less expensive too. 250 savage 99's are always higher and in greater demand i guess than the 300 sav. i think both rounds are sensible.........as is the 308. |

It sure took a lot for the man to sell me the rifle. It was his uncles that he bought at a police auction. i have shot some 200 rounds out of it and loved every minute of it its a dream to shoot. I thought that man was going to break down when I was about to walk out of his shop. But he wanted someone to have it that would use it but also take care of it too. She sits in my safe nice a clean. You sometimes I have hold these rifles and just sorta get a feeling of the hunts they have been on. |
