Howdy from the UK

Hi, Bill here relatively new to firearms but the missus says Iím obsessed which is probably very true.

I have a 1866 yellow boy in 38, a 1873 in 357, both bought new.

Iíve just bought a second hand 1860 in 44-40 made in 1996 seems to be in very good shape.

There is however a slight problem I would like some help with. I think the mag tube may have taken a knock in the past because every now and then a cartridge gets stuck about 4Ē down, it doesnít happen all the time just some shells. Iíve tried emery cloth wrapped around a cleaning rod but it hasnít helped. Any ideas what I can try next.
Cheers AB

AB can you disassemble to get a look down the tube. You are referring to the 1860 so you feed from the top by the end of the BBL???? If you can get at it can you find a wood dowel just under the size of the tube and slide it down to see if it catches.

Welcome from NH.

yes I stripped it, you canít see any visual dent it just catches sometimes, other times itíll load all 10 no problem, weird. It does bug me though, Iíll get a dowel and try that.

I'm not familiar with the firearm. What pushes the cartridges so they can be picked up when loading. Is there a rod that is spring loaded? it might be it pushes off center if it's inserted in a certain manner?? Just guessing.

You said you tried emery cloth so that should take out and rust. How about an oiled patch and bronze brush? Do you get rust? Run a dry patch to absorb any oil after.

Hi Terry, the bullets are fed down the tube bu gravity, you raise the barrel to 45 degrees and they just fall down the tube.
