Took a break from .22 shooting at the range today, now that the league is over. I brought all 3 of my .45 ACP handguns today and blew through 175 rounds, including 25 of the Federal HST self defense ammo I just got. I had the idea that I wanted to bench rest all 3, but that didn't work out at all. I really need a bigger white background at that range, to line up the open sights. I love my PPQ, but target sights they aren't. At 25 yd the "air" between the 3 dots is wider than the whole target. So I enjoyed blasting some silhouette targets and also tried for some tight offhand groups at 30 ft. Made a 1 1/4 inch 20 shot hole with the Range Officer. Now up to 325 rounds on the PPQ with no malfunctions, and I'm almost ready to declare it my official nightstand gun. It's amazing how different the 3 triggers are, yet they're all good triggers. The Range Officer trigger breaks like glass. The PPQ trigger breaks almost as clean, but has a take-up with some resistance, almost like a 2-stage. The SAR K2 has a spongy break like bending plastic, yet it's consistent and very easy to shoot, especially at some speed. The K2 is definitely the softest shooter, I think mostly because of it's wider backstrap, with the double stack mag. The PPQ has the most felt recoil, being polymer and 12-14 oz lighter than the other 2. Still very comfortable to shoot. I believe I'll keep all three (and probably add a .45 Shield once the prices come down) |

Yup, that's the Range Officer for you. Great gun and all the more so in your hands. As for the other two, have no experience, but very interesting. Thanks for a great report. Glad to see some other folks getting a chance to shoot.

Glad you got out to make some big holes. Great shooting with the Range Officer. First time I have seen the SAR, cool gun.

That's a great report and some nice shooting. It's nice to have all three at the same time to really experience the differences in triggers.
