Range Report: Rugers

Wish I could just copy and paste my thread I posted over at Henry but there I post pictures directly. I'll just post text but will have to write it different.

I shoot a vintage 1966 Ruger 10/22 with same era Weaver Rimfire Marksman 4X. NCG wrote about shooting her Charger so I took my Charger Mare's Leg also. I cut a rifle stock down to make it legal on a pistol. Its not long enough to shoulder and I can shoot it one-handed.

I was only at the range for about 30 minutes and shot four 10-round targets benchrest using my crude rest and sandbags. My groups at 50 yards averaged 3/4" to 1 1/4".

Not my best day but still not bad. Actually if it had been my Henry I would have been delighted but if it was a CZ I would have been disappointed. So I guess my shooting was about average for a plain 10/22.

Thanks for the report, 303. Do appreciate it.

Yeah, that's par for a 10/22, but, then unless you mod one to death, they've never really been about accuracy, anyway. I still prefer originals like yours for the plinkers, small game and fun guns they were from the start. The Charger fits right into that scheme and that's the reason I like it, too. Been thinking of adding a Kidd barrel to get some of those fancy groups with it, but then I lose that casual, fun shooting aspect and head down a different road. Just don't want to do that.

Now you got me thinking about dusting off our Sporter Deluxe and having a little fun with it.

I did go over to Henry and look at the pictures. Good job poking holes in the right places. I suppose that you didn't want to spill coffee on the carpet.

Now I may just have to dig my Sporter Deluxe out next time.
