Dumbest Range Behavior Ever?

Was at the range today, only me and one other guy in there. I'd just emptied the mag of my Range Officer, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I don't like getting tapped on the shoulder to begin with, but when I turned around, there's a Glock 42 pointed directly at my stomach from one foot away. I said "Your gun is pointed right at me." He says "can you pull this slide back?" I said "Your gun is pointed right at me." Seems he's slammed his finger i the ejection port and can't free himself. By this time he's turned the muzzle away a bit, so I pulled the slide back, took the gun from him, locked the slide back, and handed it back to him. So I continued to tear him a new one, and he says "sorry, I didn't mean to do that." Didn't mean to do it? He knows where the muzzle is, and he can see where I am, so what part didn't he mean to do? Truth is, he hurt himself and lost his head. I don't think I'd do that if my finger was cut off ad spouting blood. I almost left after that, but I managed to get past it.

You were a gentleman, I'm not as polite. I've dealt with this situation before and thank God I'm still here today. However it does take a second to get past the "what could've happened" feeling doesn't it?

Glad you're okay too

He would have heard some stronger language from me, too; and had the pistol slapped in a new direction. I get enough of the "tacticool" types waving their guns around when they're dancing over a two foot group.....

How does one manage to trap a finger in a pistol? One more plus for revolvers, I guess.

Having been an N.R.A. Instructor in most of their disciplines since 1958, I can tell you some stories that would curl your hair!
I remember one, at a free, public outdoor State Range in Wilkes-Barre, PA, some years ago-- this yayhoo was supposedly teaching his son to shoot a handgun-- he takes his baseball cap off, and goes down range WHILE THE LINE WAS HOT, AND TELLS HIS SON TO SEE IF HE CAN SHOOT HIS HAT OUT OF HIS HAND! Fortunately his son wasn't as much of an idiot as his father, and said, "But I might hit you!" So the father says, "O.K., well I'll throw the hat in the air, and you see if you can hit it!" Uh huh, over the top of the safety berm, right? Needless to say I shut the line down, and proceeded to tear the father and son a "New One"-- Wonder if they're both still alive? I just hope they don't procreate..

The father should definitely be taken out of the gene pool.
