I loaded up some Oregon Trail 180 gr bullets and when to range . I had two loads one was 5.3 gr of Unique and the other one was 5.8 gr of Unique . I shot 20 rds on a target took gun apart and checked barrel for leading and cleaned gun for next 20 rds . I checked brass for any high pressures and then took them home to measure them . Not one of them budge any brass and no sign of pressure at primers either . That being said 5.3 Unique show no sign of leading , but the 5.8 Unique show signs slight leading starting [ very slight ] . If it was in any other cal but a 40SW and plus stock Glock barrel I wouldn't worry about it . This ammo going in my Doomsday storage box anyway so I don't care . Both cast bullet loads are super accurate as my jacket bullets . The 5.3 load is a real pussy cat load to shoot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by tx gun runner; 09-24-2013 at 05:36 AM. |

With non-expanding bullets it does not make sense to push for highest velocity. The lighter loads should give plenty of penetration and the heavy bullet with flat nose will handle energy transfer. If the guns function reliably with the lighter load it sounds excellent for your purpose. The accuracy certainly looks fine. Thanks for the report.

Remember I put a 1 lbs heavier spring in my Glock for the FBI 180 gr bullets because they are hot . The Glock will eat anything I feed it . It will even feed a mag full of empty fired brass forward and extract them or 1 sized brass backward from mag to chamber manually .

I custom load 99% of all my ammo for the type of shooting I'm going to shoot . This target was shot a 750 fps for Cowboy Action shooting and I can load it to match the 44 mag spec for hunting at around 1300 fps which will kill the hell out of you . You must control the roll of a SA in your hand . I found the little finger under the bottom of the grip in pic works for me . ![]() ![]() |

I think this is a spam bot. This is the second "new member" that has posted only one comment which is a partial quote from one of my comments on another thread. I believe it was the one about .45 ACP in a BH. That was chal45oye from Pakistan. I think they are both bots..

I reported both. When the other one did it I thought it might have been an attempt to respond to that quote from me but this second one quoting the same comment seems to indicate bots.
