comparing ammo

You know I load everything with Unique and HP must reach 1000 FPS to work correctly

I took off the http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloade...aspx?gtypeid=1

All using the same bullet weight of 124 gr for the mouser guns .
I was surprised the 9mm was that near the 38 super +p

38 super 124 gr
1.26 Unique 6.2 1,208

9mm 124 gr
1.12 Unique 5.8 1,180

357 sig 124 gr
1.13 Unique 8 1,344

and for big bore guns 180 / 185 gr .
I was surprised the 10MM didn't do a lot better .

40 SW 180 gr
1.12 Unique 6.7 1,000

45 ACP 185 gr
1.24 Unique 8.2 1,015

10 mm 180 gr
1.25 Unique 8 1,138

It would seem it's not the best powder for the Super and the 10mm but those are impressive numbers on all the rest. It certainly works well in all of them if those loads burn clean.

It is really a versatile powder. I was moving away from it but you nudged me back.

I use either Hodgdon BL-C(2) for rifle and HS-6 for pistol. I'm not a big loader and jus load to save money.

I make custom ammo to match the job I need it to do . Cowboy Action is around 750 FPS , target stuff around 900 FPS , hunting loads are near max . So that is 3 different loads for the same gun . Plus a 1000 different combination on lead and jacket bullets .

Most of the calibers I load for are military calibers or at least I load to mil-spec so I only have one load per caliber. I haven't reloaded for a couple years but when I was doing it I might do 5,000 round runs.
