.356 dia cast bullets in a 38 sp.

Has anyone used .356 diameter cast RN bullets in a 38 Special? I have about 1000 .356 bullets and I want to load them in 38 Special.

Only in 9mm shot in a .357 convertible-----worked ok.
Some say they get poor accuracy.

Adj you crimp die to hold the bullet from moving in case which can be very dangerous and use a 9MM expander if possible

Thanks for the reply. I will load about 10 rounds and give it a try. The way I shoot, I am sure it won't hurt my accuracy.

First, you really should slug your barrel and see if it is 0.355-0.356". Any larger, and you'll get leading.
Next, the nightmare of revolvers: you should measure or have some one measure the cylinder throats' diameters. If they are smaller than you barrel's actual groove diameter, you'll end up with an undersized lead bullet entering the barrel and leading will occur.
PS: SAAMI spec if the same for 9x19, .38 Special, .38 Super, and .357 Mag barrels--target is 0.355".
PPS: you really want your lead bullet to be AT LEAST 0.001" larger than measured bullet groove diameter.

For many years I shot 9mm in a 38 caliber S&W 60-14 revolver. The 60-14 was the only revolver that would eject the 9mm spent shell. I never had a problem with accuracy, however the 2 1/8" barrel was not a 50 yard shooter.

Oh, just wanted to add: As a reloader, you can use bullets a bit larger or smaller, provided you start at the start load and work up.
For the industry, SAAMI has specifications as follows:
.357 Mag: 0.355-0.358" jacketed and 0.356-0.359" lead bullet, Groove diameter of 0.355-.359"
.38 Spl: Same as .357 Mag, except for wadcutters that should be 0.357-0.360".
.38 Super: 0.350-0.356", Groove diameter of 0.355-0.359" (needless to say, reloaders don't need to use such small bullets)
.380 Auto: 0.3535-0.3565" bullets. Groove diameter of 0.355-0.359"
9mm Luger: 0.352-0.355" bullets. Groove diameter of 0.355-0.359"
You can see why slugging your barrel and matching the bullet to that diameter is a good thing to do, particularly with lead bullets..
