Anyone using the Barnes 110 or 130 TTSX in their 99 Savage in 300 Savage? I love the 130 in my '06 (3250 fps) for whitetail but won't push my lever gun that hard. I guess I could keep using my '06 but that 99 is such a sweet rifle, I hate to let it linger in the safe every hunting season.

All my reloading books are back where it's about to snow so don't have any 300 Savage advice. Never owned the caliber so no retained memory either. My 99 is in 250/3000 and is scary accurate. Great rifle. |

Hodgdon says: 130 gr. bullet in 300 Savage use H4895 C.O.A.L.= 2.52" start load 39.5 gr. for 2,324 FPS and max at 43.0 gr. for 2,698 FPS http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle I shoot the 250 Savage and really like the cartridge's performance. |

+ 1 to the advice of Gemihur. The Hodgdon reloading guide is very good, Lots of powder choices and they give you a max and starting load data. |

ds44 was last on 12/1 so don't know if he's a one and done or if he will be back. Be interesting to hear how he made out deer hunting with the 300 Savage.

Didn't see anything bigger than a fork on opening day. The Mrs got a buck that already dropped antlers in the January bow/crossbow season. I guess I kinda forget these forums aren't Facebook and that it's OK to check them and reply/update more than every 6 months.

So did you kill anything or did the Mrs. get all the credit this season?
