My wife and I both have Ruger lcp's. I'm sending my slide in to Ruger to get re-blued (for free BTW, Ruger cs is incredible). I could just use my wife's lcp while I'm waiting for my slide to come back but hers is purple, which I don't mind carrying but I was just curious if a slide assembly (slide, barrel, springs, guide rod) from one will work with the frame of another. I know barrels are custom fit to the slide but suppose I use the whole assembly from hers and put it on mine?

I'd be surprised if the barrel or any other part is "custom fit." It s a $200-$250 gun. In my opinion swapping slides will be fine. Put the slide on, rack it a few times. If it racks okay take it to the range.

I was shopping around for a ss slide and on Roger's website, they mention that a replacement slide has to be custom fit to the barrel, and I was like '' please..... '' but who know, maybe... I know with other guns, u can buy the frame separately so I figured it'd be fine. But wanted to make sure

I know you guys love me .... You can order the 34 parts you need to built a Glock from scratch . NO GUNSMITH or fitting of any parts is needed . If you build 5000 Glocks 4999 of them will work perfect first time/ every time for the next 100,000 rds and no need to break them in either ..

I agree with Shaky. That is not a price range where any hand-fitting is likely done. Give it a try and see.

Scientific nit-picking: Since the two slides would not be perfectly, 100%, identical, swapping may cause a change to the wear patterns on the slides and frames, if you fired a significant number of rounds. Unless you're in a lengthy gunfight, I think you're okay..... ![]() |
