For me, neither. I have fired the LCP and it was too small and uncomfortable to shoot. The Taurus pistols historically have had very spotty reliability. And from numerous discussions I have followed on different forums the Taurus customer service is less than acceptable. Ruger has outstanding customer service and they have much better quality and reliability history. So if I had to choose between the two I would go with Ruger. |

I'd go with the LCP because of quality and customer service. Like Seabee says, they're not real comfortable to fire, but they're very comfortable to carry.

Beretta Pico, smaller, reliable and surprisingly accurate. Mine cost $250 with 2 mags and a case.

I'd opt for the new M&P Shield 380 EZ!

I have both of the 2 you mentioned. The LCP, after 2 minor modifications, 1 being a Wolff 11# recoil spring & the Hogue dedicated grip for the LCP (both for under $25) made it much improved in function & ease of operation. I do not know if the new LCP versions address any issues. My daughter in law has an LCP II & likes it. I ordered it for her, but never fired it. My Taurus 738 TCP has been very reliable in firing, but mine has a minor problem in that the slide does not reliably lock back after the last round, a feature the Ruger does not have. In my opinion, the ultimate carry .380 acp is the Sig Sauer P238. My wife and I each have 1 for summer carry & they are flawless. It's design somewhat mimics a 1911 & as such, must be carried cocked & locked, something that has never been an issue for either of us after over 3 years of concealed carry. |

Well, you can tell I'm a Ruger guy from my signature, but I've given up semi-autos, and don't like polymer. Strictly a stainless revolver fan. Given your choices, Taurus' reputation in general isn't very good, so it would definitely be the LCP for me, but I'd go the newer LCP II model. My personal choice, with me liking all metal, would leave me with a SIG as a pocket .380. A little larger, I'd do the Walther PPK. |

Personally I think the 380 make a good BUG , but not as a CCW gun only . My CM40 is the size of 380 with 40SW power . Yes it kicks but I only need 1 shot per bad guy and shooting at a bad guy you will feel the recoil . Just only slightly larger the Glock 27 is the perfect hide gun in my opinion . I live in shorts and T-shirt in my part of Tx which make hiding a gun hard and I carry 2 guns .
