Mcgee I hope you enjoy the 10/22 as much as I do mine. I haven't had it long but I just can't stop smiling every time I shoot it. I don't know how good your eyesight is but the first thing I changed out on mine were the sights. I had a horrible time seeing the stock sights. I put on a Williams Ace in the Hole peep sight set from the Ruger store. I used the discount that comes with the rifle. It basically pays for the shipping and a little more. But it was a big help. Since then I have added a Nikon 4x32 prostaff scope for when I want to really see the target.

Thanks for all the help. The hobby of firearms in much harder when none of you friends or anyone you know is involved with them. So what I learn is by doing or you great people online. Being retired I like my guns, my jeep, the computer and my snowmobile not in that order. Thank you again

I do have another question. After mounting the scope to sight it in without a boresighter. I figured at 25 yards I should be able to get a shot on the paper, the scope MOA is 1/4 so if it's off target 2 inches left and low 4 inches. I would move my wind age 8 clicks to the right and my elevation 16 clicks up. Is this right??????????? It's been years since I have done this and just plain don't really remember. |

Mcgee, I have a couple of those cheapie Simmons 22 mag 4x scopes and you know what? They work fine. Optics ain't half bad for the price, either. That scope will work for you.

So from the house to the garden is about 30 yards or so. I thought I had a handle on sighting it in but now I think not. Maybe buying a cheap boresighter also.

Just sight it in at 12 yards or 15 yards. That will get you plenty close for shooting at 30 yards for shooting rabbit and squirrel sized varmints.
