I've been jones'n for an AR10 type rifle for a few years, but my M1A's and Garands in .308 have sated my lust, well they couldnt do it anymore after yesterday. I made a day off road trip to a few LGS's and found this little girl in Newport, the Armalite AR-10 A Series defensive sporting rifle. Its now on hold and will be coming home before the end of the month. ![]() heres the run down on her : Caliber- 7.62X51 mm / .308 Barrel - 16" double lapped, chrome lined / chrome moly Rifling- Twist1:11.25” RH Muzzle Device - Flash suppressor Front Sight Base- MIL-STD 1913 rail gas block. Top of gas block is .398 (+/- .010) lower than top of receiver Handguard- Standard 8" Stock- 6-position collapsible Upper Receiver - Forged flat-top receiver with MIL-STD 1913 rail and forward assist 7175-T74 aluminum Lower Receiver- 7175-T73 aluminum (forged) Trigger- Single-stage Charging Handle - Standard Finish- Anodized aluminum upper/lower receiver, manganese phosphated steel barrel Overall Length- 35.0" / 38.3"ight7.9 lbs. Included-One 20-round Magpul Pmag, owner’s manual I wouldve liked a longer barrel, but a 16 in tube will do what I need, and I plan on some personal touches as far as user friendliness goes as well. The best thing is that Magpul 20 and 25 round mags are very affordable............ ![]() |

Congratulations on your AR-10. I've got an older Armalite AR-10 with a 20" match barrel. It only uses their metal mags, instead of Pmags, but I have plenty of them. |

I think it should work out pretty well all in all, I plan on making it a heavy weight go-to thumper, and since PMAGs are really well priced, I figure I'll stock pile them, and have at least ten to a dozen metal ones put up as well. Optics wise its gonna get a Leupold VXR Patrol rifle scope http://www.leupold.com/tactical/scop...5-4x20mm-30mm/ In a LaRue mount http://www.laruetactical.com/larue-t...ount-qd-lt-104 And Troy BUIS, as of yet the handguard replacement has not been contemplated, and I'm looking for a replacement flash suppressor, but that also is still up in the air |

Got an update, I have five mags on order, a mix of Magpul and Brownells, two of the former, and three of the latter, all 20 rounders. Yesterday I bought two Magpul 25 round mags because that's all the store I went to had other than ten rounders.................... I decided on the replacement stock as well, and as usual its a Magpul....... Heres what the rifle and seventy rounds of ammo look like........ ![]() more pictures to follow as I make progress........ ![]() |

Made a few changes, since my last post, will post pictures this weekend. Switched out the trigger for a 4.5 pound POF drop in unit, and the pistol grip for a MAGPUL MIAD. Shoots like a dream now.

I like your style! That .308 in one bad round. I'm going to stick with my 5.7x28 with 50 round mag of which I now have six and I also have the FN pistol with three 20 round mags. I put a 3x30 Burris prism scope on it. One never knows when he will need the fire power. I did however find that the AR57 does not like the American Eagle ammo. It just will not run that brand. 5.7x28 bullets are not crimped. They are glued and the AR57 tends to break them on feed. The FN 57 bullets run very well and very accurate. The last we met, you didn't let me shoot it! ![]() ROFLMAO! I just spit coffee outta my nose. Just Kidding Brother Man, I can't wait to build one in .308 myself. I do dig my 6.5 Grendel but, .308/7.62x51 ammo is so much easier to get ahold of. Stay safe my friend ![]() |
