Don't know much about it, but I'll bet it bucks a bit more than is practical.

I find ZERO use for it anywhere in the world and I think it is a good waste of powder and lead . ... A 454 will do the job anywhere in the world ... Try the paste again

Personally I think a hunting rife is needed for that much power and 90% of all hunters can shoot a rifle far more accurate and make a faster followup shot if needed .

I agree that there is no practical use for it. And think that the vast majority of the people who get them will not be able to shoot safely.
I hate the videos where some idiot gives one to someone who can't handle the recoil at all and gets hurt.

The 460 is actually a better cartridge than the 500 as far as I'm concerned. It's certainly a more practical cartridge and versatile cartridge. Compared to the big 500, the 460 is much higher velocity cartridge, shoots much flatter, is extremely accurate out to 200 yards and can easily handle 300 grain plus bullets and do it all without beating up the shooter with massive recoil. You can shoot 454 Casull or 45 Colt in a 460, too. My 5" 460 revolver actually has less felt recoil than some of my 44 mag revolvers and that's with full power 460 factory hunting ammo.

Met some shooting pals at the range, yesterday, and one was shooting an Encore rifle with a 20" 460 barrel. He let me take a few shots with it and even though the 460 gets a big boost in velocity in a rifle barrel, recoil was still manageable.

Rumor has it that S&W designed the 500 to claim the world's most powerful handgun cartridge title, but developed the 460 as a more practical cartridge for the sake of hunting and shooting.

I was a range officer for years on a big range and that would not happen on my watch . If I seen that happen before I could get there to stop it , I would pull there memberships card of everyone involved and toss everyone near watching this off range for the day . Everyone is a safety officer on the range and can yell cease fire to put a stop to anything that is not safe
